For what is now the fourth straight year (I do believe it's the fourth straight year), I was able to partake in the experience known as the Dance Africa Festival. For me, the unofficial summer begins with this event. It's always great to see DJs spin classic tunes, folks dancing to said music or to beat of the African drums, people supporting Black businesses, see photographers of color and look at the sea of melanin!

So, if you some how read the title of the blog entry and Nas' "One Mic" came into your mind (or somehow read that in Nas' voice) please receive your free slice of cake at the end of the blog post. As we are one month removed from the glory that is Daylight Savings Time, I've had to find locations that give me the best available light in order to continue shooting Dance Study and Portrait sessions. Outside of the Oculus at the World Trade Center, certain train stations and some parts of Chinatown, there were not many locations available that would allow me to continue shooting dance; well, dance with good amounts of movement.
